1 Reading — E12.4.R1 R1
Students will be able to read (aloud) a text about cyber crimes and rights to distinguish the lexis and jargon.
Read the text below about cyber crimes and answer the questions.
Staying Safe in the Digital World
In today’s increasingly connected world, cyber crimes have become a serious threat to individuals and organisations alike. One of the most common methods used by scammers is phishing — sending fraudulent emails or messages designed to trick people into revealing their passwords and personal data. Victims often click on links that appear legitimate but actually install malware on their devices, giving hackers access to sensitive information.

Identity theft is another growing concern. Criminals steal personal details such as ID numbers, bank information, and addresses to commit fraud. Meanwhile, ransomware attacks encrypt a victim’s files and demand payment to restore access. Young people are also affected by cyberbullying, which involves using digital platforms to harass or intimidate others.

Experts recommend several precautions: use strong, unique passwords for every account; never share personal data with unknown sources; install reliable security software; and always verify the sender before opening suspicious emails. Recognising spam messages and understanding the tactics of online scammers are essential skills for staying safe in the digital age.
  1. a Find and list 5 technical terms (jargon) related to cyber crime from the text.
  2. b Choose any two of these terms and write a definition for each in your own words.
  3. c Why is it important to understand cyber crime vocabulary? Explain with at least two reasons.
Metinde kalın yazılmış (bold) kelimelere dikkat et — bunlar siber suçlarla ilgili teknik terimlerdir. Tanım yazarken kendi cümlelerinle açıkla; metni aynen kopyalama.
2 Reading — E12.4.R2 R2
Students will be able to reorder the scrambled steps of a cyber game in a text.
The steps below describe how to play a virtual reality adventure game, but they are in the wrong order. Read them carefully and answer the questions.
CyberQuest VR — How to Play
Step A: You reach the final checkpoint and must solve a three-dimensional puzzle to unlock the exit portal.

Step B: Put on the VR headset and immerse yourself in the simulation. You will see a futuristic cyberspace environment around you.

Step C: Navigate through the sensory maze by collecting digital badges. Each badge gives your avatar a new ability.

Step D: Create your avatar and choose your character’s special skills before entering the multiplayer arena.

Step E: If you complete the mission, your score is recorded on the global leaderboard. You can then proceed to the next level.

Step F: Work with other players in multiplayer mode to defeat the virtual guardian blocking the path to the final zone.
  1. a Put the steps in the correct order (write the letters from first to last).
  2. b Explain how you determined the correct sequence. Which clue words helped you?
  3. c Imagine a Step G — what might happen next in the game? Write 2–3 sentences.
Sıralamada mantıksal akışa dikkat et: önce hazırlık (avatar oluşturma, headset takma), sonra görevler (badge toplama, takım çalışması), en sonda sonuç (skor kaydı). “before”, “then”, “final” gibi ipucu kelimeleri ara.
3 Writing — E12.4.W1 W1
Students will be able to write detailed descriptions of an imaginary future.
Read the model paragraph below, then write your own description of an imaginary future.
Model Paragraph
In 2050, life will be very different from today. People will probably travel in self-driving cars powered by artificial intelligence. Smart devices will control everything in our homes, from cooking meals to managing energy. Virtual reality classrooms are likely to replace traditional schools, allowing students to immerse themselves in three-dimensional learning environments. However, some changes are uncertain — perhaps robots will do most household chores, or maybe humans will find new ways to work alongside technology.
Your task: Write a detailed description (8–10 sentences) of life in the year 2060. Include the following:
• At least 3 predictions about technology and daily life
• Use will and be going to for future predictions
• Express certainty and uncertainty using words like definitely, probably, likely, perhaps, increasingly
• Use vocabulary from the unit: artificial intelligence, smart device, virtual reality
Önce kesin olduğunu düşündüğün tahminleri “will definitely” ile, emin olmadıklarını “will probably / is likely to / perhaps” ile yaz. Model paragraftaki yapıyı takip et: teknoloji günlük yaşam belirsizlikler.
4 Writing — E12.4.W2 W2
Students will be able to compose a cyber game scenario.
Read the model game scenario opening below, then write your own complete cyber game scenario.
Model Scenario Opening
Welcome to NeonGrid — a multiplayer simulation set in a vast cyberspace world. You are Agent Zero, an avatar created to protect the digital city from a mysterious virus. Your mission begins at the first checkpoint, where you must interact with other players to gather clues.
Your task: Write a cyber game scenario (8–10 sentences). Your scenario must include:
Setting: Where does the game take place? (e.g., cyberspace, a virtual city, a digital world)
Character: Who is the main avatar? What are their abilities?
Mission: What is the goal of the game?
Obstacles: What challenges or enemies does the player face?
Ending: How does the game conclude?
• Use vocabulary: cyberspace, avatar, badge, checkpoint, multiplayer, proceed, simulation, interaction
