Opposites Attract
My two best friends, Deniz and Ece, are completely different, but they get along very well. People say “opposites attract” and I think it is true for them. Deniz is tall and slim with curly, dark hair. She is outgoing and confident. She loves meeting new people and she always sounds cheerful. Ece is short and plump with straight, blonde hair. She is shy and quiet. She prefers reading books at home. However, they both are kind, generous and honest. Deniz says Ece is a good-looking person inside and out. They have been friends since primary school and they seem like sisters.- a Why does the author say “opposites attract”? Explain in your own words.
- b What does “good-looking inside and out” mean in this text?
- c Which person would you like to be friends with? Why? Write 2–3 sentences.
Bu sorularda metinden kopyalama yapma, kendi cümlelerinle açıkla. “Opposites attract” zıtların birbirini çekmesi demek — Deniz ve Ece’nin farklılıklarını düşün. Son soruda kendi fikrini yaz.

V1

Three Friends
Let me tell you about my three friends. First, there is Elif. She has long, straight, dark hair. She is slim and medium-height. She is very clever and confident. People also say she is brave because she is not afraid of anything.
Then there is Mert. He has short, curly, blond hair. He is tall and well-built. Mert seems very calm, but he is actually quite cheerful when you get to know him. He is also a very generous person — he always shares everything.
Finally, there is Ayşe. She has wavy, brown hair and fair skin. She is short and plump. Ayşe is polite and gentle. However, she can be a little forgetful sometimes. She often forgets her books at school.
| Character | Hair | Build | Personality Trait 1 | Personality Trait 2 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Elif | long, straight, dark | clever | ||
| Mert | tall and well-built | generous | ||
| Ayşe | polite |
Metni dikkatlice oku ve her karakter için saç, vücut yapısı ve kişilik özelliklerini bul. Örneğin Elif’in vücut yapısı (build) ne? Mert’in saçı nasıl?

About Zeynep
Zeynep is a 17-year-old girl from Ankara. She is tall and slim with long, wavy, brown hair. She has fair skin and brown eyes. She is very attractive. Zeynep is brave and confident. She travels to different cities alone by bus. Her friends say she is smart enough to solve any problem. She wants to get a driving licence, but she is not old enough yet — you need to be 18 in Türkiye. Her brother Emre is 14. He is too young to stay home alone at night. Emre is a cheerful and kind boy, but he is too careless with his homework sometimes.- a What does Zeynep look like?
- b Is Zeynep old enough to get a driving licence? Why or why not?
- c Is she brave enough to travel alone?
- d What kind of person is Emre?
- e Why is Emre too young to stay home alone?
Her cevabı tam cümle olarak yaz. “too + sıfat” olumsuz anlam taşır (fazla), “sıfat + enough” yeterlilik belirtir. Örnek: “She is too young to drive.” = Araba kullanmak için fazla genç. “She is old enough to vote.” = Oy vermek için yeterince büyük.
